What is IGRC2027?
The International Gas Research Conference 2027 (IGRC2027) will take place in Budapest, Hungary from 24–28 May 2027.
The conference brings together researchers, industry experts, technology developers, policymakers and energy professionals working in the fields of gas, low-carbon gases, hydrogen, CCUS and multi-gas energy systems.
IGRC2027 provides a platform to share research results, discuss industry developments and explore innovations shaping the future of energy systems.
How can I participate in IGRC2027?
Participants can attend IGRC2027 as delegates, technical speakers or invited (strategic) speakers.
Registered participants will have access to:

When will registration open for IGRC2027?

What is the IGRC2027 Technical Programme?
The Technical Programme focuses on scientific research, applied studies and technological innovation related to gas, low-carbon gases and multi-gas energy systems.
Researchers and professionals are invited to contribute by submitting an abstract through the official IGRC2027 submission system.
If accepted, authors will be invited to submit a full paper or extended paper and present their work at the conference through an oral presentation or poster session.
The detailed Technical Programme will be published on the website once the abstract review and selection process has been completed.
What is the Executive &; Strategic Programme?
In addition to the Technical Programme, IGRC2027 will feature an Executive & Strategic Programme focusing on industry perspectives, global energy trends and strategic discussions.
This programme includes:
keynote speeches

strategic dialogues with industry leaders and policymakers
Speakers in this programme are personally invited by the organisers. Invitations will be sent out 2026 Q2.
The Strategic Programme will be announced closer to the conference as the invitation process progresses.
What is the official language of IGRC2027?
All sessions will be conducted in English.
Will Wi-Fi be available?
Yes, complimentary Wi-Fi will be available throughout the venue.
Will catering be provided?
Yes, refreshments will be provided during scheduled breaks.

Registration and Attendance
Is registration mandatory for all attendees?
Yes. All participants must be registered to access conference sessions.
Does registration include visa support?
Visa invitation letters may be provided upon request after successful registration.
How and where do I collect my badge?
Badges must be collected onsite at the registration desk with valid identification. All participants are required to wear their badges during the conference.
Can someone else collect my badge?
No. Badges must be collected in person.
What if I lose my badge?
Please report lost badges immediately.
Technical Programme Submissions
Who can submit an abstract?
Researchers, industry experts, engineers and professionals working in gas, low- carbon gases, hydrogen, CCUS, and multi-gas energy systems are welcome to submit abstracts.
Can industry professionals submit abstracts?
Yes. IGRC2027 encourages submissions from both academia and industry, including applied research, case studies and technological developments.
Where do I submit my abstract or paper?
All submissions must be made through the official IGRC2027 online submission system.
How many abstracts can one author submit?
Authors may submit multiple abstracts. However, the Technical Programme Committee reserves the right to limit the number of accepted presentations per author.
Can an abstract have multiple authors?
Yes. Abstracts may include multiple co-authors. The submitting author will act as the main contact for communication regarding the submission.
What are the submission deadlines?
All submission deadlines will be published on the IGRC2027 website and communicated directly to authors. Deadlines may vary by submission type.
Are there word or page limits?
Yes. Word and page limits apply depending on whether you submit an abstract, full paper or extended paper. Details will be included in the author guidelines.
What language should submissions be written in?
All submissions and presentations must be prepared in English.
What is the difference between an abstract and a full paper?
The abstract provides a concise summary of the proposed research or technical contribution. If accepted, authors may be required to submit a full paper or extended paper describing the work in greater detail.
How are abstracts evaluated?
Abstracts are reviewed by members of the IGRC2027 Technical Programme Committee and expert reviewers. Evaluation is based on relevance, originality, technical quality and alignment with the conference themes.
When will I be notified if my abstract is accepted?
Authors will be notified about the outcome of the abstract review after the evaluation process has been completed by the Technical Programme Committee. Notification dates will be published on the IGRC2027 website.
Can I modify my abstract after submission?
Minor updates may be possible before the submission deadline. After the deadline, modifications may be limited depending on the review stage. Final cut-off dates will be communicated in advance.
Can I withdraw my abstract?
Yes. Authors may withdraw their submission by contacting the IGRC2027 Technical Programme team.
Can my abstract be assigned to a poster session instead of an oral presentation?
Yes. Depending on the review outcome and programme balance, submissions may be assigned to either an oral presentation or a poster session.
Will accepted papers be published?
Accepted papers may be included in the official IGRC2027 conference proceedings or related publications, subject to the submission of the final paper and compliance with author guidelines.
Technical Programme
I am presenting a Technical Paper at IGRC2027. What is the session format?
Technical Paper Sessions at IGRC2027 focus on original research, applied studies and technological innovation related to gas, low-carbon gases and multi-gas energy systems.
Each presentation typically followed by a moderated Q&A discussion.

What are the abstract submission requirements?
Authors are required to submit:
an abstract for review,
followed by a full paper or extended paper (if accepted),
and final presentation slides prior to the conference.
All submissions must comply with the official IGRC2027 author guidelines.
I am participating in a Technical Panel Session. What is expected from panelists?
Panel Sessions address technical or cross-disciplinary topics relevant to the global gas and energy transition landscape.
Panelists are usually required to submit:
a short biography,
a session outline or key discussion points.
A full technical paper is not normally required.
Can I use my own presentation template?
Yes. Presenters may use their own institutional or corporate templates, provided the slides meet technical and branding requirements. However, presenters are encouraged to include the IGRC2027 conference branding where possible.
Will my session be recorded?
Selected sessions may be recorded for documentation or post-event communication purposes. Further details will be confirmed closer to the event.
What should I do if I can no longer attend IGRC2027?
If you are unable to attend, please notify the Technical Programme team as early as possible.
Can I nominate a co-author or colleague to present instead?
Yes, subject to approval by the Technical Programme Committee. The replacement presenter must be appropriately qualified and familiar with the work.
When will I be informed of my presentation schedule?
Presenters will receive session details once the final scientific programme has been confirmed.
Can a paper have more than one presenter?
Typically, one presenter per paper is permitted. Exceptions may apply for joint or interdisciplinary presentations.
Can I present remotely?
IGRC2027 is planned as an in-person event. Remote presentations are generally not permitted unless exceptional circumstances apply.
Do presenters receive a certificate?
Yes. Presenters may receive a certificate of participation or presentation following the conference.
Will there be awards for best papers or young researchers?
Information about possible awards or recognitions will be announced as part of the Technical Programme.
What is the recommended dress code?
Business is recommended.
Technical Programme – Registration, Travel and Accomodation
Do Technical Programme presenters need to register for the conference?
Yes. At least one author of each accepted submission must register for the conference and present the work onsite. Presenters are generally responsible for their registration fee, travel and accommodation costs.
Is there a fee to present at IGRC2027?
Yes. Authors and presenters are generally required to register and pay the applicable ticket price.
Do I need a visa to travel to Hungary?
Visa requirements depend on nationality. Participants are responsible for ensuring compliance with Hungarian entry regulations.
Will IGRC2027 cover travel or accommodation costs?
Travel and accommodation are normally the responsibility of the presenter unless otherwise specified.
