Topics

1. New Age of Natural Gas

We are inviting presentations showcasing innovations that advance safety, operational efficiency, energy security, affordability and system resiliency, while reducing environmental and social impacts. Submissions should address developments and real-world applications across the full natural gas value chain – including production, transport, distribution, storage and utilisation of natural gas. These applications should contribute to core systems safety, reliability, efficiency, and sustainability.

2. Emissions Management, Carbon Capture and Gas Certification

We invite submissions demonstrating cost-effective strategies for reducing, managing, and certifying emissions across the natural gas value chain - from production through to transmission, distribution, and end use. Submissions should highlight technical innovation, practical applications, and research that advance emissions monitoring, reduction, carbon capture and its integration, and the certification of natural gas and new gases.

3. Renewable Gases

We invite papers and posters on the production of renewable gases (biogas, biomethane, synthetic natural gas) and on their impact on Gas infrastructure and end-use systems. Submissions should highlight technological advances in renewable gas production, grid integration, system compatibility, and market or operational solutions.

4. Low Carbon Hydrogen

We invite papers and posters on the production, transport, storage, and use of low-carbon hydrogen, including hydrogen produced with or without CCUS, and on its impact on Gas infrastructure and end-use systems. Submissions should highlight technological advances in hydrogen production pathways, grid integration, system readiness, and operational challenges.

5. AI & Digital Transformation

We are inviting papers and poster presentations that explore the development and early adoption of AI-based digital technologies, and their transformative impact on the Gas industry and its evolving ecosystem. Submissions should highlight applications that enhance safety, reliability, sustainability, and operational performance across the entire Gas value chain and emerging systems - from design and planning to operations, inspection, and maintenance. These applications should contribute to core or emerging energy systems’ safety, reliability, and sustainability, and they should showcase how the Gas industry is incorporating AI at the core of its operations.

6. Social, Commercial, Regulatory, Policy, Financial and Innovation Perspectives Across the Gas Value Chain

We invite researchers, industry practitioners, policymakers, regulators, innovators, and social scientists to submit papers and poster presentations exploring the evolving role of Gas in the global energy system. As energy systems transform, the Gas value chain—from production and processing through to transmission, storage, distribution, and end use—faces significant social, commercial, regulatory, and policy challenges, as well as new opportunities for innovation.

We seek contributions that go beyond the technical analysis to examine the enabling conditions that shape Gas markets, with a focus on delivering reliable, resilient, affordable, and low-emission energy while minimising harmful air emissions.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to: social acceptance and community impacts; innovation in workforce transition and skills development; novel commercial models and market design; alternative investment frameworks and risk allocation; regulatory reform and permitting; policy alignment with decarbonisation goals; cross-sector integration; and policy and market innovations that enhance affordability, security of supply, and emissions reduction.

  2. Length: Typically 350–500 words (excluding title and author details)

  3. Title: Clear, concise, and reflective of the abstract content

  4. Authors: Full names, affiliations, and country of each author

  5. Corresponding author: Clearly indicated with email address

  6. Structure:

    1. Background / context

    2. Objectives or research question

    3. Methodology / approach

    4. Key findings or expected results

    5. Conclusions and relevance

  7. Keywords: 3–5 keywords

  8. Formatting:

    1. PDF format

    2. Standard font (e.g. Times New Roman or Arial, 11–12 pt)

    3. Single-spaced

  9. Originality: Abstract must describe original work not previously published or presented

  10. Scope alignment: Must be relevant to the IGRC2027 CFA themes and tracks

  11. Submission: Via the official IGRC2027 submission platform by June 16th, 2026
